Journal #1 — No Translation Needed
One of the things I love most about photography is that it doesn’t need words. Growing up in Russia, living in China, now being in Austin — language has always been a barrier somewhere. But photos? They speak instantly. A glance, a shadow, a smile — anyone can feel it without translation.
Journal #2 — Carrying Home
Every time I move, I notice how my photos carry little pieces of the places I’ve lived. A color I loved in Vladivostok, a rhythm I learned in China, and now Austin’s light sneaks into everything. Photography keeps all my homes stitched together.
Journal #3 — Accidents Welcome
I was chasing one shot today and ended up with something totally different — and better. Accidents happen, but in photography, they often turn into discoveries. Sometimes the camera knows what I need before I do.
